Election Day

At the time of publication, polls were still open for the November 7 elections. However, election results will be posted on our Facebook and website, www.groesbeckjournal.com We will have a full election report in next week’s Journal.

Veterans Day

Saturday, November 11, is Veterans Day, a day to honor our military veterans and their service to the United States of America. Inside this week’s Journal, you will find a special supplement saluting our veterans.  The Limestone County American Legion Post 288 will have a Veterans Day program Friday, November 10, at 10 a.m. on the Courthouse lawn. The general public is cordially invited and urged to attend to honor the veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States of America.

Food for Families Food Drive

The annual Food for Families Drive will be held on Friday, November 17, in several Central Texas counties including Limestone County. The Food for Families Drive in Groesbeck will be located at the Fishes & Loaves Food Pantry on West Navasota Street in downtown Groesbeck. Food items collected in Groesbeck and southern Limestone County will go to the Fishes & Loaves Food Pantry, and this pantry serves those in need in all of southern Limestone County.  The hours of the drive are 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Suggested items to donate are canned meats (tuna, chili, stew, chicken), canned vegetables, cereals, baby food, peanut butter, dry beans, rice, flour, sugar, cornmeal, pasta/sauces, and soups. Those interested in entering into a drawing for a $25 Brookshire’s gift card may bring their non-perishable food items to the Journal office by November 16th and be entered to win. The gift card drawing will take place, November 17.
