Judge reconfirms support for Fair Association
Limestone County Judge Daniel Burkeen clarified his comments from the April 11 commissioners court meeting, reconfirming the county’s support for the county fair and the Fair Association.
His clarification came at the April 25 commissioners court meeting, when the court also learned of several errors in invoices it was about to pay; confirmed the county employees’ retirement benefits plan; approved routine raises and a budget transfer; and were advised of two county inmates who had to be hospitalized and guarded in hospital, racking up significant expenses for the county.
In speaking of his previous statements, Burkeen told the court he wanted to clarify his comments on Fairgrounds Manager Kenneth Ellis’ overtime hours, which had run high as he prepared for the fair, requiring a budget transfer; and also clarify his comments on the Limestone County Fair Association.
