LARAS House trustee to be county’s rabies control officer
Although Limestone County has been without a rabies control officer for some years, a new appointee has been chosen to fill the position.
County commissioners appointed Thayla Tucker to the job at their May 23 meeting.
Tucker has plenty of experience with animals since she has been working with LARAS House animal shelter for seven years. With that organization, she sets up appointments for dogs to be spayed and neutered, takes the animals to their appointments and picks them up afterward, fosters multiple dogs in her home, volunteers at the group’s many fundraisers and also is the secretary of the board of directors.
No job is too big or small for Tucker, since she also bags dog food for clients of Meals on Wheels and Caritas food pantry to give their pets; and no job is to big since she is the shelter’s community service coordinator, keeping track of the hours for those who fill their community service duties volunteering at LARAS House, and interacting with the courts and probation department as needed.
