Local Peace Poster Contest winners Announced at Lions Club meeting
In cooperation with Lions International, the Groesbeck Lions Club sponsors the Peace Poster Contest for local students each year. The three local winners were presented at last week’s Lions Club meeting with Kara McLelland, local Peace Poster committee chairman, making the presentations.
The contest is open to students who are 11, 12, or 13 years of age. The year, the three top winners are all in the 6th grade students at Enge-Washington Intermediate School. It is possible for the top local winner’s poster to be considered for higher honors in the Lions International Peace Poster competition.
First place winner was Laci Henderson; second place winner was Tobi Wright; and third place winner was Baileigh Harris.
The families of these winners were also invited to last week’s meeting for the presentation. Beth Westoff, Enge-Washington principal, was also present.
The annual Christmas Lighting Ceremony will be held at Limestone Medical Center on this Thursday night from 6 to 8 p.m. The Lions Club will be performing spot vision screening during a portion of that time.
The Lions Club will again be helping with the Spirit of Christmas Food Drive this year. The Spirit of Christmas Food Drive is sponsored by Brookshire’s.
