After a major winter storm slammed into the Lone Star State earlier this week, millions of Texans are recovering from the damage done. Some are still without power, while others have experienced issues with their water supply, pipes bursting, and other problems.
The Limestone Medical Center Foundation wants to thank Arnold and Penny Gray, owners of the Running G Ranch, for donating the steer used in a recent raffle. The winners, Martha Stanton and Lucy Saldivar, each won a side of beef, cut and wrapped to their specifications. The Foundation appreciates the widespread support given to the project by the community. Proceeds from the raffle will be used to purchase equipment for the hospital. Over the past several years, the LMC Foundation has purchased equipment for the hospital and clinics worth over two million dollars. These purchases include ambulances, imaging equipment, laboratory and rehab equipment, and furnishings for the new Kosse Clinic. In observance of Groesbeck’s 150th Anniversary Celebration and the 2021 Groesbeck Heritage Festival, the Garden Club has announced plans to build and maintain “planters” that will contain native flowers and other plants to beautify the downtown area. Initial placement will be along Ellis St. or Hwy 14 with possible future sites on Navasota St. The project is the result of a generous donation from an anonymous donor. Anyone who has “Groesbeck” or “Groesbeck Reds” bricks they would like to donate are urged to contact a Club member. These will be used to highlight the planters with their special Groesbeck message. Other salvaged bricks from early schools, cotton gins, homes, and other buildings are requested and will be utilized in the body of the planters.
