The total rainfall in Groesbeck for September 2021 was 0.3 inches making the total for the year, so far, is 34.16 inches. It was one of the driest September rain totals ever. There has still not been a day in 2021 where the temperature reached 100 degrees or higher in Groesbeck. Very rare for this part of Texas. The chances of hitting that 100-degree day this calendar year are very slim at this point. According to Public Works Director Keith Tilley records, it has been 16 years since that happened here.

With the Limestone County Courthouse roof now totally redone, Sam Callis can consider his final project as Maintenance Director for the courthouse a crowning achievement. Working up through several positions under three county judges in his 18-year tenure, Callis has seen grant opportunities change and sometimes fall just outside the county’s grasp, but for the past four years, he has been working closely with the Texas Historical Commission (THC) to restore a portion of the building that will celebrate its 100th birthday in 2024.
