Union Pacific Railroad’s Big Boy No. 4014, a steam engine that weighs 1.2 million pounds, embarked on a month-long tour that will take it through 10 states. The monster locomotive stopped in Mexia on Sun., Aug. 15, on the train tracks at E. Commerce Street.
With the new school year already underway, the Groesbeck ISD School Board is looking toward the upcoming fiscal year, setting the wheels in motion for a public hearing regarding budget and tax rate. In their regular meeting on Monday, August 15, the board also discussed field maintenance agreements and recognized the hardworking group of student leaders who are Officers for the Groesbeck Chapter of FFA.
After much discussion and deliberation, the Groesbeck ISD School Board has voted to cancel the $1,000 stipend promised to all returning, fully vaccinated staff members who worked through the COVID pandemic last school year.
“I need all the help I can get” is an expression most of us have heard/or used.
