LARAS house “Spay”ghetti (No Balls) Dinner planned for Saturday in Groesbeck

New leaders of Limestone Animal Rescue Adoption Shelter (LARAS) House are looking to do big things at the shelter this year, but are currently beyond max capacity for animals in need of adoption. With nearly 100 canines and a few dozen felines, LARAS is hoping to garner some community support and involvement through its annual Spay-ghetti Dinner, which hasn’t been held in recent years due to COVID.

D.A.R. holds first meeting of new term

Jonathan Hardin Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution met in the conference room of the Gibbs Memorial Library in Mexia. Madam Regent, Nancy McSwane opened the meeting with the DAR ritual followed with an invocation given by Chaplain, Marsha Black. Regent McSwane read the President General’s message; Rise and Shine America, Help Your Chapter Shine.

Quad County Hay Show Program to be held

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Limestone, Leon, Freestone, and Anderson Counties are sponsoring a “Quad County Hay Show & Educational Program” program at the Limestone County Showbarn Annex Building in Groesbeck, Texas, on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. Registration will begin at 8:15 a.m. The program begins at 9 a.m. and will conclude after hay testing results/awards and lunch. There will be a sponsored breakfast and cold drinks as well.

The Groesbeck ISD School Board

The Groesbeck ISD School Board met for their regular meeting on Monday, Sept 20, and recognized the hard-working custodial staff for their success in keeping every campus clean and safe for students and staff. With years of service to the district ranging from one to more than 30, many custodians have become fixtures in Groesbeck schools, and Maintenance Director Jackie Ancelet was proud to shine a spotlight on this portion of her crew.
