Failed History Lessons Equals More Future Failures

In 1938, every thinking European and American statesman and most politicians saw and understood that Nazi Germany had been tearing up treaties, breaking promises, and continuing to “reincorporate” territories weaker than it was. It was aggression in its most basic form: submit or be militarily crushed by invasion. Hitler had no qualms about saying anything, promising (lying) anything, signing anything to get the western governments to give in . . . repeatedly. British Prime Minister Chamberlain represented the Allied powers [under treaty obligation to assist Czechoslovakia if attacked] in a supposedly summit meeting with Hitler to settle Germany’s claim to part of Czechoslovakian territory. The Nazi leader had already threatened to invade if his demands for a piece of Czech land were not met. Hitler and Chamberlain met oneon- one in Munich, Germany to negotiate. The leader of Czechoslovakia was not permitted to be present at the meeting. The two attending leaders agreed that a parcel of Czech territory was to be ceded to Germany and that Germany had no further territorial ambitions in Europe. The resulting Munich Agreement was another Nazi lie; less than 90 days after the signing, the remainder of Czech territory was occupied by German armed forces.

Dear Editor, If money was the answer all of our students would be the greatest success possible. All Independent School Districts are Dependent on Federal and State Tax Money which comes with requirements that have little to do with real knowledge, the ability to think, and common sense. If students can not read, write, do basic math, think objectively and logically, and know how are government works, they and our society are in the poor shape it is in Today. Not Great!

In the summer of 1957, Groesbeck found itself at the center of a spirited discussion over the future of Highway 14. The proposal to widen the road through the business district promised benefits for traffic flow and economic growth, but it also brought concerns about cost, property changes, and the impact on downtown life.

How to Love God?: A Weekly Devotional

“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” (Mat.22:37) The heart is at the center of all our thoughts, words and actions. Our soul is the seat of all emotions. Jesus said, “My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death,” speaking of His soul as the seat of emotion. Our personal will involves our intentions and purposes for the decisions we make each day. These elements intellectual, emotional, volitional, and physical are who we are and how we love God. Our love for God must be an intelligent love (based on the bible), an emotional love (our hearts stirred by the Holy Spirit), a willing love (not forced or fake), and an active love. Active means we pray, live, serve and love God and others consistently on a moment-by-moment basis. Don’t say you love God and never pray, attend church, or help others. Don’t say you love God and allow evil thoughts to dominate your mind. Don’t say you love God and hate fills your soul. Don’t say you love God and you never financially support the local church you may attend. Notice this love for God is a personal love, “thou shalt love the Lord thy God.” Examine your heart and determine if you really love God!!
