Wreath-laying ceremonies will be held at multiple sites in Freestone and Limestone Counties, joining over 4,900 other locations across the country for National Wreaths Across America Day. Coordinated and led by local volunteers, the Jonathan Hardin Chapter, NSDAR, Inc., a sponsorship group has raised funds throughout the year to sponsor the placement of over 650 veterans’ wreaths on the headstones of our fallen service members laid to rest at the following cemeteries: LaSalle (Groesbeck), New Hope (Jewett), Salem (Teague), Veteran Remembrance Park Teague (Teague) and Wortham/Blind Lemon Memorial (Wortham). In addition to these locations, two other organizations have joined the WAA mission to Remember-Honor -Teach. This is the first year the Woodland Cemetery in Kirven and second year for Shanks Cemetery in Teague to participate as registered sites.
