GHS Band Advances to Area Competition

Bands from across the region brought music, motion, and school pride to the field during the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Marching Contest on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Troy High School. Each ensemble performed its 2025 field show before a panel of judges, capping months of rehearsals and halftime performances. Ratings were awarded based on musical and visual execution, with top groups advancing to area competition. The Groesbeck Band was among the participants, performing “Thunderous” under the direction of Colin Anderson. The band earned a Division 1 rating for its performance and will advance to the area competition on Monday, Nov. 1.

A New Chapter for Groesbeck’s Historic Henderson Flower Shop

After 74 years of serving the Groesbeck community, Henderson Flower Shop is entering a new era. On October 22, 2025, Lew Henderson, the third-generation owner of the beloved flower shop, officially passed the baton to Amanda Brotherton, the owner of B7 Designs. For many, this transition marks not only the end of an era but the exciting start of a new chapter for the shop and its continued legacy of service, compassion, and community spirit.
