Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $787.8 million in local sales tax allocations for May, 2.6 percent more than in May 2016. These allocations are based on sales made in March by businesses that report tax monthly, and sales made in January, February and March by quarterly filers.

“The cities of Irving, Round Rock, Dallas, San Antonio and Odessa saw noticeable increases in sales tax allocations,” Hegar said. “The cities of McAllen and Sugar Land saw noticeable decreases.”

Limestone and Freestone Counties show noticeable differences not only for the month, but year-to-date as well.

In Freestone County, Fairfield and Streetman saw larger declines for the month while Teague and Wortham saw some profit to help balance the difference for the county. The county, year-to-date is 5.247 in the negative drawing $1,025,790.03 compared to $1,082.594.72 this time last year.

Limestone County is in a trickling increase by 1.615 percent drawing $1,468,721.36 compared to $1,445,374.12 this time last year. Groesbeck and Kosse saw a slight dip this month compared to last year while Coolidge, Mexia and Thornton brought in a little more to balance proceeds for the county.
