A look at Week 6 in Texas High School Football
Week 5 turned out to be a thriller as the Groesbeck Goats - down 19-0 - came back to win their district opener against Eustace, handing the Bulldogs their first loss of the season, 20-19. In Class 2A, No. 1 ranked (Division I) Mart is off this week after improving to 4-1 with their win over the Centerville Tigers last Friday night, 57-21 and No. 4 ranked (Division II) Bremond (4-1) is off after clobbering Thorndale 42-7 last weekend. Mexia is off as well. The Blackcats improved to 2-3 through their non-district schedule, finishing out with a 35-12 defeat of the Caldwell Hornets in Week 5. The Wortham Bulldogs (4-1) will have a bye this week. Wortham suffered their first loss of the season against the Granger Lions, 41-34.

Groesbeck: Goats coach Steve Hale earns the motivational award from last week’s game. After the team went into the halftime down 19-0, Hale told his guys that they were going to go back on the field and win the game. Sure enough, Groesbeck scored 20 unanswered points and held the Bulldogs scoreless in the second half for the win. The Goats ended up with 348 total yards of offense against Eustace, led by Tyrique Carter and Ameer Lee.
