Foy: School Board
First of all, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Aslone Foy and I’m the interim board trustee for Groesbeck School Board- District 5. I’m a 2005 graduate of Groesbeck High school, where I attended pre-k through high school. After high school, I attended Tarleton State University where I received a degree in Agricultural Services & Development. I work for El Dorado Chemical as a salesman. We retail fertilizer, row crop / pasture herbicides, and seed. My wife, Ashley, and I reside just outside the city limits with our 3 great children; 2 daughters who attend H. O. Whitehurst, and a 4-month-old son. I am the son of Mary Ann Gibson- Foy and the grandson of Mary Gibson; both born and raised in Groesbeck. While currently serving on the school board, we have begun to make strides in finance and curriculum. I believe that we, as a school district, must have faculty and administrators in the right place so that our kids can excel. A board member must be willing to listen to ideas and do what is right for the district. A school board trustee must be responsive and receptive to parents, staff, students, and the community to make the best decision for our school district. I cannot and will not say that every decision I make will be suitable for everyone, but I will encourage constructive criticism and will listen to all. I have a strong voice and don’t mind taking a stance by myself for something that I believe is right. I do not believe a school board member should have a personal agenda or be someone who might keep our district from succeeding.
