Answers to Prayer: A Weekly Devotional

God promises to all his children He will answer prayer. “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:” (I John 5:14). Our confidence in praying to God lies in the fact that if we ask in keeping with his will, that we are certain God hears us. This type of prayer life comes from the Christian who is walking close to God (John 15:7). It is our responsibility to search the Word of God (2 Timothy 2:15), to determine if our request is “keeping with the will of God” then we will receive it. When the answers to our prayers are given is determined by God. If we follow this process we will ask for much less than we probably currently ask. Most of us ask for much and thus fall into asking amiss as mentioned in James 4:3. The question that we must ask as we claim this promise from God should be; “How often do I use scripture that directly relate to my request so that I can be assured I am praying within the will of God?” You are the only one that can answer this question. The Word of God is the food that nourishes our prayer life and makes our prayers strong. Prayer is the easiest of all spiritual things we can do yet it is the hardest thing for us to do.
