“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” (Mat.22:37) The heart is at the center of all our thoughts, words and actions. Our soul is the seat of all emotions. Jesus said, “My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death,” speaking of His soul as the seat of emotion. Our personal will involves our intentions and purposes for the decisions we make each day. These elements intellectual, emotional, volitional, and physical are who we are and how we love God. Our love for God must be an intelligent love (based on the bible), an emotional love (our hearts stirred by the Holy Spirit), a willing love (not forced or fake), and an active love. Active means we pray, live, serve and love God and others consistently on a moment-by-moment basis. Don’t say you love God and never pray, attend church, or help others. Don’t say you love God and allow evil thoughts to dominate your mind. Don’t say you love God and hate fills your soul. Don’t say you love God and you never financially support the local church you may attend. Notice this love for God is a personal love, “thou shalt love the Lord thy God.” Examine your heart and determine if you really love God!!
