Cross Country teams finish strong for Groesbeck at Midway Kiwanis Meet
It was a great day for the Groesbeck cross country program last Thursday at the Midway Kiwanis Meet, as the junior varsity girls and varsity boys’ teams placed second in their races and the JV boys’ team came home with first place.
The JV girls competed against eight teams at the meet, with six of their seven runners finishing in the top 20 to earn medals.
Dani Venegas placed fifth for the team, Maci Bozeman finished ninth, Alivia Johnson took 12th place, Jaedi Goodman followed in at No. 13, Genny McNeely grabbed the 15th spot and Gabby Saldivar took the 19th position.
There were approximately 75 runners in the JV girl’s race.
For the JV boys, Dalton Masters finished in the top 20 at No. 4, Peyton Baize placed 12th, and Chris Ramirez and Matthew Willis came in together at No. 17 and 18 places, respectively.
The varsity girls team finished 4th out of 19 teams competing.
Willow Johnson ran a time of 12:56, putting her in the 12th position out of 129 runners. Brianna Dobson came in at No. 20 with her time of 13:32.
