Goats gain win over McGregor, 5-3
The Groesbeck Goats took the field Friday night, April 6 at home against the McGregor Bulldogs. The Goats held the lead all throughout the first five innings of the game with a score 4-0.
“It was a fun game,” Brayden Bradley said. “starting ahead and staying ahead is when we’re at our best.”
In the sixth and last inning, McGregor attempted to pick themselves up by three while Groesbeck scored one thus ending the game with a final score of 5-3. Bradley and Mark Smith managed to steal bases throughout the game, Bradley with a double and Smith with a triple. The total base count for the night was 14; Smith with five, Bradley with four, along with Luke Bailey, Bryston Ferguson, Jake Pringle, Dravin Barber, and Dylan Rand with one each.
“We played good and everything went well throughout the game,” Barber said. “Our offense is coming back again and we’re playing good.”
Zachary Wilson pitched a total of five strikeouts throughout five innings of the Friday night game, walking zero. Bradley threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen only allowing one hit and managed to keep McGregor from getting any runs within the last inning of the game.
“Zachary Wilson did a good job, pitched a good game and a lot of strikes, putting us in a good position to win the game,” Coach Ashley said.
The next home field game is scheduled for April 13, 7 p.m.
