Goats, Lady Goats finish strong at Darrell Piske Memorial Powerlifting Meet in Fairfield
The Groesbeck Goats and Lady Goats powerlifting teams competed in the Darrell Piske Memorial Powerlifting meet held Thursday, Feb. 1, in Fairfield.
Both teams competed strong with the Lady Goats finishing fourth overall out of the seven schools competing, while the Goats took fourth-place out of nine teams.
Myles McGruder topped the 198-weight class with his first-place finish. Lifting a combined (squat, bench press, deadlift) total of 1,450 lbs.
Anastacio Luna took second-place in the Super Heavy Weight class, lifting a combined 1,260 lbs., Clayton Herridge’s lift total of 1,235 lbs. earned him a second-place finish in the 275 Class at the meet, Ameer Lee finished fourth in the 165 Class with a combined total of 955 lbs., Trey Hicks placed second in the 148 Class, lifting a combined total of 890 lbs. and Weslee Duke came in second-place in the 114 Class with a total of 620 lbs. lifted.
McGruder received the Outstanding Heavy Lifter award in the boy’s classification and is currently one of the three top lifters in the state for the 198-weight class.
