Goats look strong in final preseason scrimmage, shutout Mabank 21-0
Groesbeck played their final scrimmage of the preseason last Thursday night on the road against the Mabank Panthers.
The Goats first offensive possession, third play of their drive almost produced a 40-yard touchdown pass. Next play presented a pass interference call which set the Goats up on their own 45-yard line. One last offensive play produced an incomplete pass to a wide-open receiver.
Mabank’s first offensive set produced nothing as the Goats defense was able to stop the Panthers run attack.
Back on offense, quarterback Ty Hale of Groesbeck handed off to Titus Townes for a 40-yard run, which was complemented by Tyrell Ray running the ball nicely, although the drive ended with no score.
Groesbeck and Mabank traded offensive possessions both resulting in no points.
However, later on, the Goat’s offense finally came to life.
Dylan Rand came back between two Panther defenders to make an excellent catch and cut upfield for Groesbeck's first points.
Mabank’s offense tried several more times to penetrate the Goat defense.
