Groesbeck athletes make Super Centex teams
Groesbeck’s Haley DeFriend recently made the 2017 Super Centex All-Academic team, released by the Waco Tribune-Herald. According to the article, DeFriend finished her high school career with a 101.68 GPA.
Joining DeFriend were fellow Lady Goat athletes Bailey Spivey and Brittney Flusche, both recognized as honorable mention.
A couple of area softball players made the 2017 Super Centex Softball first team. Mart catcher Deazhia Medlock was named to the first team, batting .469 on the season with 41 RBI for a Lady Panther team that finished second in District 16-2A and made it to the area round in the playoffs.
Teague’s Kiley Persons made first team, hitting .616 on the season with 28 RBI, helping lead the Lady Lions to a third-place finish in District 18-3A and a bi-district finalist in the playoffs.
Making the 2017 Super Centex Baseball team was the Goats Chandler Boyd made first team infield. Boyd hit .429 on the season with 33 RBI for a Groesbeck team that finished first in District 19-3A and finished the season as a regional quarterfinalist in the playoffs.
