Groesbeck Goats, Lady Goats place fifth at Temple Cross Country Meet
Last weekend, the Groesbeck Goats and Lady Goats cross country teams competed at the Temple Cross Country Meet, with both teams placing fifth overall in their respective divisions.
Coach Lori Kelley was proud of the team as the girls improved two spots from last year’s seventh place overall finish at the same meet.
Medaling for the Lady Goats was junior Willow Johnson, who finished seventh out of 83 runners with a time of 13:54 in the two-mile race.
Freshman Brianna Dobson turned in a time of 14:34, sophomores Emily Miera and Genesis Hubbard turned in great times. Miera ran a time of 15:34 and Hubbard had a time of 15:40.
Jasmine More (Fr.) and Rylie Goodman (Jr.) both finished with the exact same time of 15:46. Sophomore Raigen Archer cross the finish line under 16 minutes with her time of 15:56.
Maci Bozeman (Soph.) ended the race with a time of 16:04. Teammate Alivia Johnson came in with a time of 16:07 and sophomore Dani Venegas was only two seconds behind with her time of 16:09.
For the Goats team, senior Traetin Turrubiarte placed 11th out of 103 runners in the 5K race, finishing with a time of 18:02. Fellow classmate Trey Hicks wasn’t too far behind Turrubiarte as he crossed the finish line in 18:56.
