JV Goats shutout by Tigers
The full moon lit the night sky over Groesbeck Stadium Thursday evening, while the anxious coaches, players, and Goat fans were hoping for a win, but it would be the Malakoff Tigers junior varsity team that would carry the W back home as they slipped by Groesbeck, 29-0.
The Malakoff Tigers scored first on a 35-yard pass play in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Goat defense hung tough thanks to a sack by Jeremy Rodriguez.
Playing hard on the defense was Beau Pagel, Seth Kirk, John Reed, Frankie Smith, Trevor Morrow, Coker Holloway, Braxton Harris, and Casen Crane; all were out there punishing the Tiger offense. With two minutes left until half-time, the Tigers scored on a 40-yard pass and then got the ball back with 51 seconds to score again making it 22-0 at the half.
Groesbeck kicked off to the Tigers in the third quarter, with Malakoff taking their first drive down to the Groesbeck 10-yard line. A Malakoff pass on the very next play, that clearly hit the ground, but was called a touchdown made it Malakoff 29, Groesbeck 0.
