Lady Goats grab lead in sixth inning victory over McGregor, 8-5
The Lady Goats started out the night on Friday, April 6, tied with McGregor, 1-1, by the third inning, letting McGregor take the lead in the fourth inning 2-1, but then bringing it back to a tie in the fifth inning with a score of 5-5.
“Even though we were down in the beginning of the game, we continued to work hard and play together as a team and get the win,” Haylie Mitchell said.
Emily Rader led things off on the rubber for Lady Groesbeck Goats Varsity. She went four and a third innings, allowing five runs on six hits, striking out three and walking zero.
In the sixth and final inning of the game the Lady Goats took the lead and won, 8-5
“We were down in the beginning and then we all came together and did what we had to do to get the win,” Sydney Beldin said,“We’re getting closer and closer to a state spot.”
The Lady Goats ran the bases with three home run hits in Friday nights game by Beldin, Kennedy Cox, and Abby Johnson. Along with three strikeouts pitched by Emily Raider and two by Cox.
“I think we played very well coming from behind,” Emily Garza said. “Staying together as a family is the biggest key to our win and we’ll continue to do that with our next victim.”
