Lady Goats take first, Goats finish fifth in track season opener at Centerville
The Lady Goats varsity track team had plenty of reasons to celebrate last week after finishing in first-place at the Centerville Relays.
Both the 4x100 and 4x200-meter relay teams came home with first-place medals and long-distance runner Kayla Menzel won first in the 800-meter run.
The varsity boys team placed fifth overall, while the junior varsity boys came in fifth as well.
Top finishers for the varsity girls were:
3200-meter run - Willow Johnson came in second-place with a time of 13:04 and Briana Dobson placed third with a time of 13:18. Johnson finished second in the 1600-meter run as well, crossing the finish line in a time of 6:01.13.
The first-place 4x100 meter relay team of Emily Miera, Haylie Mitchell, Alexis Burns and Xzenobia Wells ran the race in a time of 52:51, and the first-place 4x200 meter relay team of Abbi Johnson, Burns, Miera and Mitchell finished the race in a time of 1:53.26.
