Last minute score by Westwood knocks out Goat JV team
In Westwood last Thursday, October 12, the Groesbeck Goat JV gridders suffered a last minute loss to the host Westwood Panthers JV squad 38-34. The score came with 47 seconds left in the game. It followed Groesbeck taking the lead 34-32 on a 55 yard run by Terrell Conn. Groesbeck hosts the West JV team at 7:00 P.M. tonight, October 19th.
Westwood scored in the first quarter to go up 6-0. Groesbeck answered in the second quarter as Artero Sotello threw a touchdown pass to Tyler Lloyd. Beau Pagel ran in a touchdown in the second quarter to answer the junior Panthers who scored again making the score 12-12.
In the third quarter, Terrell Conn scored his first touchdown on a run. Bradye Duncan converted with two extra points. Groesbeck was ahead 20-12. Westwood answered with their own eight point score on a touchdown and two extra points later in the quarter to tie the score 20-20. Terrell Conn had one more 55 yard run for a score followed by Pagel’s two point conversion.
After trailing 32-28, the Goats retook the lead on Conn’s second 55 yard run to go up 34-32. Then Westwood got the last minute score to win the game 38-34.
