A look at Week 3 in Texas High School Football
Call Week 3, the week of comebacks.
On the northside of the Navasota River, the Teague Lions overcame a late touchdown by the Mexia Blackcats to tie their game at the close of regulation. Teague scored on their first drive of the overtime quarter and held off Mexia, picking up their first win of the season.
In Groesbeck, the Goats trailed the Bullard Panthers by 10 late in their game. However, the Goats scored 13 unanswered points to claim their second win of the season and are off to a 2-0 start.
As for the rest of the area field, Mart handled the West Trojans, scoring 21 points in the fourth quarter to win the game, 42-12. Bremond earned consecutive win No. 49 against Iola, 17-6, and the Wortham Bulldogs slipped by the Cayuga Wildcats on the road, 40-28, improving to 2-0 on the young season.
In six-man action, the Coolidge Yellowjackets hosted the Calvert Trojans, but ended up on the short end as the visiting team took back home a 74-38 win.
Plenty of great matchups on the agenda this week as the Battle of the River takes place Friday night in Mexia, between the Groesbeck Goats and the Blackcats.
