Groesbeck: Nothing could be better than to head into a tough matchup with a big win under your belt. The Goats face the Trojans this week and if they play as hard as they have all season, they should come out on top. In last week’s win, quarterback Ty Hale threw for 139 yards and two touchdowns, Ameer Lee had a big game on the ground, rushing for 145 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Lee was a plus on special teams as he returned a punt 85 yards for a touchdown as well. Nick Mosley got in on the scoring from the defensive side, returning a fumble 50 yards for a score. Brayden Bradley, Jake Pringle, Grant Johnson and Stanzley Gibson all scored touchdowns in last week’s win and kicker Dylan Rand added a field goal and five, point after conversions. Players to watch this week will be Titus Townes, Zachary Neumann, Tyrell Ray and Chance Kramer.
West Trojans: The Trojans shot down the Whitney Eagles last week to remain undefeated thus far in district play. QB Nathan Gerik threw for 131 yards and two touchdowns in the win, while running back Paeton McFarlin chewed up some yardage with 27 carries for 167 yards and a touchdown. Gerik got in on the Trojans run game with 14 carries for 92 yards and a TD and Jacob Bates pitched in with eight carries for 56 yards and a score. Freshman receiver Anthony McGlothen led with four catches for 95 yards and two TDs. Players to watch will be Ryder Reese, Trevor Scott, Romeo Hernandez, Clayton Wilson and Kayman Harold.
Summary: The Goats will need to be tough on defense and contain West QB Gerik, plus put the brakes on RB McFarlin, while keeping a good offensive flow to put points on the board.
Prediction: Groesbeck 28, West 24
