Mexia Boat Parade
Being part of the “Let Freedom Ring” Lake Mexia Boat Parade is an annual tradition for Larry and Kelli Haynes and their family. The couple goes all out to decorate their boat in a patriotic theme.
On Saturday their boat, “Haynes Crew,” won first place in the annual parade organized by the Lake Mexia Citizens Association. It wasn’t the first time Larry and Kelli have , either.
“We’ve won it a couple of times before,” Kelli Haynes said. “It’s a tradition for us. Every year our family gets together. It’s a big deal. We have three grandsons. They like the lake pretty well.”
The Haynes’ pontoon was decked out with American flags and a red poster along one side of the boat with “America” spelled out in large white letters in between two large white hearts.
Red, white and blue letters spelling out “USA” adorned the front of the boat.”
