Summer sports camps have much to offer aspiring athletes
Groesbeck Youth Football Camp
As school lets out, it won’t be long before the 2017 fall football season begins. It’s hard to believe that another great year of Groesbeck Goats football is only two months away from now.
That also means that little Goats will be hitting the gridiron as well and to get them started, the annual Groesbeck Youth Football Camp will take place June 5-6 for grades 3-8.
The cost is $40 and sessions run from 9 a.m. to noon at Groesbeck High School Stadium.
Athletes are required to wear a shirt, shorts and cleats for the three-hour workout. Plus, on the registration form, they should provide their shirt size for the camp t-shirt.
The registration form is available to download or print from the Groesbeck ISD website’s athletic page, under summer camps.
You may also check out the Groesbeck Journal’s Facebook page to view and print a copy of the registration form as well.
GHS Basketball Camp
New Groesbeck Goats head basketball coach, Bill Barstow, will conduct a basketball camp this summer from June 26-30, at Groesbeck High School Gym.
The camp is for boys and girls, grades 2-5 and 6-8, with the 9 a.m. to noon session for the younger kids and the 1-4 p.m. session for the older kids.
The camp will focus on individual skills development, 3-on-3 team play and 5-on-5 team play. The primary goal each summer is to help every player improve his/her skill level, expand his/her basketball IQ and most importantly HAVE FUN!
A feature that separates the GHS Basketball Camp from all other camps in the area is that the entire staff is comprised of current/former NCAA basketball players from across the United States, with Avery Lomax (Prairie View A&M), Jabril Durham (University of Arkansas), Trey Barstow (Centenary College) and Dyllon Weaver (Centenary College) among some that are scheduled to appear.
The campers will benefit from the philosophies, experiences and knowledge of these highly successful players who are going to work hard together with your son or daughter in a positive environment. Our coach to camper ratio is 10-to-1, so that each camper is given intense individual instruction. The GHS Basketball Camp is dedicated to giving your son or daughter quality instruction, a focused and enthusiastic effort and most importantly a memorable hoop experience!
Athletes should wear a shirt, shorts and basketball shoes. Every camper will receive a camp t-shirt!
Parents interested in registering their athlete may download or print the form from the Groesbeck ISD website’s athletic page under the subhead, summer camps.
You may also download or print a copy of the registration form from the Groesbeck Journal’s Facebook page.
For questions regarding the camp, you may contact coach Barstow at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at (469) 774-0368.
Other camps include Volleyball, Softball, Lady Goats Basketball, and Youth Baseball.
