Malakoff held off stubborn Goats in district battle for first place last Friday. Groesbeck, Teague battle for second place in district this week as they square off at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Teague. Both teams enter the fray with 2-1 district records. The winner will clinch second place in the district with one regular-season game remaining. See coverage on page 4 of this issue. This week will be like a Clash of the Titans when Groesbeck and Malakoff battle for supremacy in District 8-3A, Division I.
On Tuesday, Oct. 12 our Lady Goat volleyball team defeated Crockett. Friday night they played Fairfield at home and the team played well but came up short and lost in three. On Friday the Lady Goats will play at Palestine Westwood.
The Groesbeck boys cross country team used its depth to win the District 20-3A meet championship at Fairfield on Tuesday, Oct. 12.
