GHS Family Consumer Science students visit Lions Club last week
Groesbeck Lions had a visit from GHS’s Family Consumer Science Teacher, Steffi Kirkendoll and three of her upperclassmen who are currently enrolled in our Groesbeck Culinary Arts Program. Senior Tavia Anglin, Junior Dayanara Rivera and Senior Kole Tatum (pictured Left to Right). The students spoke about the current classes offered in the program, which begin in 8th grade and extend through students’ Senior year. The classes offer not only cooking skills, but safe food handling practice and training needed for students to receive their Food Handler and Food Manager Certificates. Classes are now being held in the newly remodeled Culinary Arts Building, located at the corner of South Ellis and Elwood Enge Drive. Superintendent Dr. James Cowley highlighted the history of the building, and shared plans for not only our Culinary students, but other groups at the High School that will contribute to the project.
