Thornton Chamber Meets for Regular Meeting
Thornton Chamber of Commerce met for its regularly scheduled meeting on February 27 at 6:30 pm to discuss a myriad of agenda items. Vice President Gigi Gill and Secretary Traci Hughes were not in attendance.
The minutes from the previous meeting were approved and Treasurer Carla Robinson presented the Treasury Report. The board discussed ways to cut down costs and keep more money in the organization’s bank account. No action was needed to move on to the next agenda item.
The Chamber accepted dues for a couple new members and heard from Limestone County Judge Candidate Mike Roark who attended the meeting as a guest.
Next, the board engaged in a lengthy conversation about who should cook for Thornton’s $10,000 Giveaway Dinner fundraising event. After much discussion about what to serve and who could cook, the board opted to have volunteers and board members handle the cooking for the event. A motion by Robinson to put Assistant Treasurer Melissa Hewitt in charge of the menu passed unanimously.
