Thornton Ex-Students Hold Business Meeting

By Martha Stanton

On Saturday, June 17, 2017 Thornton Ex-Students Association held its annual business meeting at 1 pm at the office of Gene Ray and Kay Alston in downtown Thornton. There were 32 registered attendants present. President Kay Alston presided over the meeting. King Jerry Tilley and Queen Linda Lou Sills Naff were recognized. Each expressed his/her appreciation at being selected to these prestigious positions. A special surprise presentation was made by Kay Alston to King Jerry Tilley. She had found Jerry’s National Guard shirt that had been packed away for the past 50 plus years and presented it to him. He was very surprised and grateful to receive this memento from long ago.

The only ex-teacher present was David Tilley who graduated from Thornton High School in 1954 and came back to teach and coach at Thornton. Those ex-Students representing the oldest graduating classes were female, Geraldine Ariano, Class of 1938 and male, Rand Bates, Class of 1952.
