Thornton Senior News

By Jane Carpenter

Seniors gathering Thursday were Raye Spivey, Sandra Spivey, Bobbie Reynolds, Linda Taylor, Ann Brown, Jack Thompson, Merilyn Simpson, Glenda Gambini, Wilma Lee, Ernestine Wilson Audd, Helen Harvey, Alma McCurry, Alta Hyden, Neennah Marie German, Fonetta Simmons, Ann Carr,LMC Volunteer; Janice Bilbrey and Jane Carpenter and our first time visitor, Barbara Rhodes. We welcome her and hope she will continue to come be with us. Everyone seemed to be in good spirits today.

We missed Elizabeth Neason and saddened that she was in Waco for Joe Neason's surgery on his arm that was broken in accident when a boulder fell on him at rock pit. Joe sustained quite a hit on the head as well. We wish you a speedy recovery. We also want to say thanks, Joe, for the ice you provide for our meals each week and to Central Baptist for our meeting place.

Merilyn Simpson who has been Jack Thompson's caretaker since Boots' passing announced to us Thursday that she will be retiring and will not be coming with Jack to our meetings after today. Our hearts are saddened by this news and we do wish her well and at the same time we hope that Jack's new caretaker will be as committed to bringing him each week as Merilyn has been. The communication with friends has been good therapy for Jack as well as each person that he comes in contact with. A sweet, sweet man, that "Apple Jack".

We want to remember our friends Betty Masters, Linda Watson, Wilmer Spivey and others in the nursing homes, we miss each of you.

Leave you with this thought:

I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything but still I can do something, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do
