Thornton Senior News
The Thornton Senior Citizens met Thursday, August 24th for a wonderful time of food and fellowship. Those sharing were Fonetta Simpson, Linda Watson, Wayne Sharp, Linda Taylor,
Bobbie Reynolds, Elizabeth Neason, Ernestine Audd, Sandra Spivey and grandson C.J.; Raye Spivey, Ann Brown, Wilma Lee, Alma McCurry, Helen Harvey, Sue Gambini, Roger Watson, Ann Carr, Sue Wood, Janice Bilbrey and Jane Carpenter. We had vegetable salad brought by Sue Wood and a congealed salad brought by Fonetta Simpson, both very delicious and we thank these ladies for their thoughtfulness.
Our menu for this week: 3 oz. chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes, tomatoes/zucchini, wheat bread, gelatin with fruit.
We were saddened to know that Kay Alston was admitted to Hillcrest Hospital in Waco and Sunday and hope she will soon be home from hospital. Also Bobbie and her daughter, Carla Allison of Groesbeck, Elizabeth and Jane were in Alabama over the weekend to attend the funeral of Ruby Talley Carpenter Talley's funeral on Sunday.
I saw that more concrete had been poured at the Community Center site so maybe, just maybe hammers and saws will soon start making a noise up there.
