Thornton Senior News
It's always a pleasure to walk into a group of smiling Senior Citizens and that's just what I did Thursday at noon and saw the smiling faces of Ernestine Wilson Audd, Wilma Lee, Glenda Gambini, Helen Harvey, Alma McCurry, Alta Hyden, Sue Wood ,LMC Volunteer; Neennah German, Fonetta Simmons, Lona Walters, Bob Walters, Raye Spivey, Sandra Spivey, Bobbie Reynolds, Elizabeth Neason, LMC Volunteer; Wayne Sharp, Jack Thompson, Janice Bilbrey, Pat Jones and Tammy Ramsey who was there taking blood pressures. We appreciate Tammy coming and taking these as a few were made aware that their pressure was out of range. We had several missing for unknown reasons to me. Hope it was for pleasure and not illnesses.
Our Civic Center is coming along nicely, the bricks are coming along and can't wait to see the front of building finished as well as all of it. Going to something Thornton can be proud of for years to come.
Menu for Thurs. Oct. 26th is: Chicken Fried Steak, mashed potatoes, black eye peas, roll and yellow cake with peanut icing, tea & milk.
There was bingo called and had winners but I'm not aware of them. Remember the Farmers State Bank will be closing the Thornton Branch at the close of business, Tuesday, Oct. 31st.
It's been many many years since Thornton hasn't had a bank but I guess we can say "Time changes everything" for sure.
Once again, thanks Central Baptist Church for the meeting place and Joe Neason for the ice.
A thought for you:
Many have been wise speeches of fools, though, not so many as the foolish speeches of wise men.
Seniors come join us, you might just like us.
