It appears that summertime has really arrived. The weather forecast calls for temperatures to be in the mid to high 90s for most of this week. In fact, the daily temperatures could reach the century sometime this week or during the weekend!
We were expecting a few more on Thursday but turned out to be a pretty good day after all. Those coming were Ann Brown, Gayla Lind, Jo Ann Archer, Elizabeth Neason, Alma McCurry, Sammy Cooper, Wayne Sharp, Snuffy Bennett, Wilma Lee, Neennah German, Roger and Sharon Watson, Lorene Stembridge and her guest, Lisa Gary from Louisiana, Vicky Vaughn, Hank and Elle Staniszewski, Janice Bilbrey and myself.
Thornton would love for you to show off your pie baking skills. Get out your pie recipes and get to baking. The pie contest will take place on June 18th, and will be held at the Mary Helen Nance Community Center. Doors will open at 7:30 am and close at 8 am. Winners will be announced during the homecoming luncheon at the center.
