Sonia Selvera slides into City Council

Sonia Selvera has spent the majority of her life here in Groesbeck, and is excited about the opportunity to reconnect with the community through serving on the city council. Having moved her family back to the area a year and a half ago, Selvera will be carrying out the term left behind by Jenny Seelinger, who resigned from her position due to the relocation of her family to Forney.

Growth mindset and change

Growth mindset is a desire to keep learning about everything that encompasses our ability to be successful and achieve at the highest levels of our ability. Great athletes perform at a higher level because they believe in themselves and trust their instincts and abilities. Just to have the ability is not good enough because without a growth mindset and the use of the ability through activity and practice the ability means nothing. There must be selfbelief to accomplish the goals set for the growth mindset.

“DWI not worth prison time”

This story is based on an interview conducted with a multiple-DWI offender, who was incarcerated in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. To protect his identity, the offender will be called “Joe.” No specifics will be provided about his offenses, except to say he was incarcerated after he was convicted for a fourth DWI. Joe’s violations never involved accidents or physical harm to others or him.
