The Center was all abuzz Thursday when I arrived because of the two visitors, Sheriff Murray Agnew and Deputy Shannon Rousey, were there visiting and answering questions. We appreciated them taking their time out to come sit down and have lunch with us and answering questions from the Seniors. Seniors present were Ann Brown, Neennah German, Snuffy Bennett, Alma McCurry, Fonetta Simmons, Gayla Lind, Gay McBride, Roger Watson, Elizabeth Neason, James Lenamond, Doris Lemley, Earl Mask, Elle and Hank Staniszewski and their grandson, Janice Bilbrey and myself.

Local Rancher Honored with Charles Goodnight Award

Larry Smith was invited to see his son honored at the International Texas Longhorn Association Convention and Championship Show in Glen Rose on October 8. This seemed appropriate to Smith who knew of his son’s contributions to the organization. Instead, he was surprised by long time friend, Stan Searle of Longmont, Colorado who presented him with the Charles Goodnight Award, an honor received by only 7 recipients in 31 years. The award, voted on by the past recipients, is the highest honor in the Texas Longhorn Industry.
