Groesbeck, the County Seat of Limestone County, is celebrating the 150th anniversary of its founding in 1871 this weekend. Groesbeck was founded in 1871 when the Houston & Texas Central Railroad came through Groesbeck and other Limestone County towns including Kosse, Thornton, and Mexia.
Parkview Regional Hospital recently announced that Amy Haydon has been recognized as the hospital’s 2021 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of LifePoint Health’s hospitals who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.
Donny and I, and the entire family want to say ‘Thank You’ to everyone who demonstrated such generosity, kindness, and thoughtfulness. He has had a very difficult time the past few months and this show of kindness was better than prescription medicine. His spirits have been boosted. We are very thankful for the Kosse Volunteer Fire Department for its support. Thank you to all its members and those who are not members for your support. It is very much appreciated.
We are so excited that all of our centers are open again. In our Groesbeck Center Monday May 3rd we were so happy to see Pat Bellar, Norma Tate and Orma Williams. Tuesday being our regular Bingo day we had 11 people in attendance with 9 of them staying to eat lunch. Our jackpot winner of the day was Judy Vickery. I was so happy to see each one of them that I am listing each one. We had Annita Childress, Pat Bellar, Vera Martin, Dorothy McFerran, Iris McMahon, Pat Ogden, Sandra Richards, Norma Tate, Judy Vickery, Gail Williams and Robin York.
Kosse will be able to enjoy Bingo with cash prizes 12 times over the next year. The Kosse Heritage Society and the Kosse Community Center have each received approval to host six nights of Bingo as charitable organizations
