GISD board makes Major Money Moves approves seven figures spending on district projects

GISD School Board approved expenditures totaling about $1.1 million in their meeting on Monday, April 19, funding projects such as a complete re-roofing of the middle school, replacing/repairing gym courts at the middle and high schools, and funding restroom construction in the culinary arts building. The decision did not come easily, as seven-figure spending can be a tough pill to swallow, but Superintendent Dr. James Cowley outlined several needs that demanded to be met. The costliest and most necessary undertaking would be replacing the 15-year-old Duro-Last roof at GMS, which is shrinking at the edges and has several leaks.
