Ebenezer homecoming planned for Oct. 10

Ebenezer Church and Cemetery is located 8 miles east of Kosse just off Hwy 7 on Ebenezer Church Rd. A short program and business meeting will be held inside the old church on Saturday, October 10, at 10:00 am. There will be no meal this year. Donations will be accepted for the building and cemetery upkeep. We look forward to seeing several of you there as you visit the site that is so dear to many hearts. Feel free to bring flowers and/or spruce up grave sites before or after the meeting. If you cannot attend, donations can be mailed to Ebenezer Church and Cemetery PO Box 21 Kosse, TX 76653. GISD receives complaint for religious messages in staff emails

GISD Superintendent Dr. James Cowley and the Board of Trustees have received a letter from the Americans United for Separation of Church and State (AU), citing a complaint against Cowley for routinely including religious messages in emails to employees. The letter, dated September 8, also raised issue with Cowley forwarding an email to staff from Groesbeck First Baptist Church (FBC) Pastor Keith Collier, inviting them to attend and participate in a prayer initiative for the district before the fall semester began, and with a back-to-school gift for staff from FBC that included a prayer book and information about church services.
