Mildred no match for Goats, 53-6

The Groesbeck Goats had an easy time of it in winning their season-opening game on the road against the Mildred Eagles at its home field, Asby Field. Coach Jerry Bomar’s team turned the Eagles every which way but loose in dominating both on offense and defense as the Goats rolled to a 53-6 win. Mildred’s 73-yard drive in nine plays for its only score late in the fourth quarter was its only bright spot for the home team.
Mexia falls victim to Lady Goats

The Mexia Ladycats saw their season record evened at 2-2 after the Groesbeck Lady Goats beat them in three sets in the Groesbeck Gym Tuesday, August 18. Groesbeck remained unbeaten at 5-0 after taking down the visitors 13, 16, and 10.

Judge Putnam Kaye “P.K.” Reiter passed away at his Mexia home on Tuesday, Aug. 18, at age 87.
Gov. statement on Federal approval for Lost Wage Assistance Funds

AUSTIN - Aug. 21 - Governor Greg Abbott issued a statement after the federal government approved nearly $1.4 billion in initial funds made available through President Trump’s Lost Wage Assistance Executive Order. This funding will provide an additional $300 per week in benefits for qualifying Texans receiving unemployment benefits. The Texas Workforce Commission applied for these funds earlier this week.
