Temperatures are hot and the dry conditions are fueling fires in our area. Groesbeck Fire Rescue (GFR) was dispatched along with Thornton VFD to a grass fire on LCR 632 around 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13. A total of 21 fire apparatus and a D6 dozer from the Texas Forestry Service battled the fire that consumed 30 acres. The terrain ranged from three to four feet of grassy areas and thick mesquite trees- making it challenging to access the fire.

The following indictments were handed down July 19 by a Limestone County Grand Jury. Those listed are not guilty unless and until a court finds otherwise. An indictment means there is enough evidence to warrant a trail.
