Kent Wilson of the Groesbeck Funeral Home was the speaker at the Groesbeck Lions Club on Wednesday, September 8, at Mi Rancho Restaurant.

The family of Jim and Faye Morford is requesting a card shower in honor of the couple’s 50th wedding anniversary on September 25. They were married at First United Methodist Church in Fort Myers, Florida in 1971. Just like the saying goes, they weren’t born in Texas, but they got here as fast as they could. Through divine intervention, they ended up in Kosse where they made their happy home for 20 years before moving to Lake Limestone in 1993. Their family includes son and daughter-in-law Jonathan and Alicia Morford of Katy, Texas, their children Drew and Jackson, and daughter and son-in-law Judah Morford and Morten Olsen of Oslo, Norway. The Groesbeck Lady Goat State Championship Basektball Team of 1996 will be honored during Homecoming 2021. The team will be recognized during the pre-game ceremonies at the football game on Friday night.
Governor Greg Abbott presented the 2021 Star Of Texas Awards Friday, Sept. 10, to peace officers, firefighters, and first responders who demonstrated heroism and sacrifice in service to their communities and the Lone Star State. The Governor was joined for the ceremony in Austin by Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott.
