The Great Battle: A Weekly Devotional

“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would (Gal. 5: 16-17). How can we walk in the Spirit of God (The Holy Spirit)? “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” 2 Cor. 10:5 The flesh and all its evil lust will be fulfilled umless we make the conscious effort every day to walk by means of the Holy Spirit. Regardless of how difficult and at what great cost to each of us may occur remember the Holy Spirit and the flesh in its present corrupt form are never compatible. The defeated Christian is the person that obeys the flesh and grieves the Holy Spirit. “And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” Eph. 4:30 We have a new nature as the results of a birth from above (John 3:3) by which we are made partakers of the divine nature (2 Peter 14). This dual nature is in a great battle and struggles consistently as long as we allow our thoughts and actions yield to the flesh. Our struggle can end and we will find eternal victory when the Lord takes us home to be with Him. We are walking on a mine field and need consistent prayer and study of the Word of God for victory. Which will win in this struggle in your life today?
