The West Lake Limestone Volunteer Fire Department had quite a catch at its annual fish fry on Saturday, Oct. 18. With lines out the door, the crew ran out of fish before 2 p.m. Their companion event, a community blood drive, also reeled in strong support. The department had a sign posted thanking local businesses and citizens for their donations for the fundraiser including Vernon Davis, Jeff Stanton, Brookshire’s Groesbeck, HEB Mexia, Mary’s Burger Barn, Old Union Eats, and numerous volunteers who made desserts.
Every Weekday, Noon to 1 p.m. — Everyone is invited to the prayer room, 208 A E. Rusk, Mexia.
The members of the Limestone County NAACP extend their sincere appreciation for the support, participation and effort from individuals, organizations and churches that helped make the NAACP Family Fun Day a success. The event was well attended, and organizers said they look forward to even greater participation next year.
