Shepard’s Sayings

The “Fruit of the Spirit” is the work of God’s Spirit in the life of a believer. Paul, in Galatians 5:22, says there are nine “Fruit of the Spirit”. The first is love agape. In English we translate the Greek word “agape” to “love,” and this is our problem. Jesus spoke Greek which used three words to describe the feelings we compress into the word love. We say, “I love baseball, apple pie, automobiles, our children and God,” all with the same word. Surely God’s love for us and our love for Him is of a higher quality than one’s love for food, cars, or sports.

The “Last Chance to Meet the Candidates” was a big success. The event was held at the Groesbeck Convention Center on Monday night, Feb.17, and it was sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and the Groesbeck Journal and The Mexia News.

Shepard’s Sayings

Jesus gave his followers a comforting promise. He said that, “God the Father, would send the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, in Jesus name. The Holy Spirit will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” (John 14:26) This is a wonderful promise but there is a limitation to it. Think about it! He can help us recall His Word we have learned. However, if we don’t know His Word, He can’t remind us of it.
