Goats continue to work through bye week
The Groesbeck football team is getting a muchneeded break this week. After winning an emotional 37-36 overtime contest at Mexia on Friday, the Goats have a bye before playing again Oct. 7 at home against Kemp.
Bomar’s named Mr. and Mrs. Homecoming
Graduating from Corpus Christi’s largest high school, Dr. Bonnie Bomar, principal of Groesbeck High School, witnessed homecoming celebrations, but none at the scale that Groesbeck celebrates.
Battle lines: Two-point run in OT lifts Groesbeck over Mexia
Groesbeck quarterback Trent Platt dove into the end zone on a two-point conversion in overtime to lift the Goats to a 37-36 victory over Mexia in the renewal of the Battle of the Navasota rivalry at Blackcat Stadium on Friday night. The score set off a wild celebration on the Groesbeck side of the stadium. The players raced across the field to a far corner of the end zone where the Navasota River sign was standing and triumphantly brought it back to their sideline.
